Microblading
Eyebrows speak louder than words.
Some would argue that your eyebrows are the most important feature on your face. Not only do they emphasize your eyes, but they also play a large part in defining the overall shape and contour of the face. Spas and individuals alike have long used techniques such as waxing, plucking, pencils, gel, and tattooing to achieve that perfectly arched brow. But, a new and innovative treatment called microblading is now available at Daydreams Day & Med Spa in Brandon and Lakeland Florida that revolutionizes eyebrow shaping as we know it.
What is Microblading?
Microblading, simply put, is the best way to achieve perfect eyebrows 24/7. During this procedure, a small blade deposits semi-permanent pigment underneath the skin. Using short strokes of varying length, our estheticians are able to mimic the appearance of individual hairs. The end results are incredibly natural-looking full and shapely eyebrows. No pomade. No pencil. No daily hassle!
What are DayDreams Microblading Treatments Like?
Once an appointment is scheduled, you’ll be sent a link to complete an online health questionnaire. Prior to your appointment, our esthetician will review your health history for any contraindications. If any are noted, our esthetician will speak to you by phone about any concerns and advise whether the procedure can go forward.
The initial microblading session itself is booked for 3 hours, though generally the procedures take slightly over 2 hours to perform. Our esthetician will first consult with you to determine what “look” you are hoping to achieve. She will then examine your eyebrows, finding the perfect arch, shape, and thickness for your face and bone structure. An outline is drawn, ink is custom mixed, and the procedure starts.
Because we use two forms of numbing, microblading procedures at DayDreams have been described as more “uncomfortable” than painful. First, a topical numbing gel is applied directly to the skin. Second, a separate numbing gel is also applied to the microblading tool itself, numbing once the surface of the skin has been broken. Your esthetician will check in with you frequently on whether any pain is being experienced or any breaks are needed.
What Happens After the Treatment?
Once the procedure is finished, you can expect mild residual pain for a few days as your skin heals. And while it may be shocking to look in the mirror and see your new facial feature, you shouldn’t expect much redness or irritation so long as the after-care instructions are being followed.
Immediately post-treatment, the first thing that you will notice is that your eyebrows will appear very defined and dark. Over the course of the next several days, the color will fade to a softer and more natural look. During this time, you may experience itching, flaking, and light scabbing. For the next 4-6 weeks, you may notice the pigment fading, disappearing, or even reappearing. This is completely normal. 6 weeks post-treatment will usually mark the end of this transitional phase. You will then come in for for a complimentary touch-up, where our esthetician will fill in any remaining areas to ensure 100% perfect eyebrows.
How Long do the Effects Last?
Microblading is less invasive than traditional cosmetic tattooing and is considered to be “semi-permanent.” Depending upon a variety of factors including your age, skin type, skin health, skincare routine, and environmental exposure (especially to the sun!), the results will last anywhere from 1-3 years. Accordingly, it will be necessary to schedule a microblading maintenance appointment approximately once a year.

Who Should Avoid Microblading?
- Those prone to keloids or post-inflammatory hypopigmentation. The results simply won’t be what you are looking for.
- Those who are pregnant or nursing.
- Those who are allergic to pigment or dye.
- Those who are diabetic or on blood thinners.
- Those who have had fillers or BOTOX® in the brow region recently. As the effects begin to dissipate, your new brows could become distorted. Simply schedule these procedures after microblading!
- Those who have eczema, shingles, rashes, or any other skin condition near the eyebrows.
- Those with very oily skin.
- Those with dark pre-existing eyebrow tattoos or permanent makeup. Your new brows just won’t be as visible as you’d like. For those with lighter tattoos, please call to schedule a consultation.
- Those who are allergic to alcohol, Epinephrine, or Lidocaine.
