What is a Micro Laser Peel?
A MicroLaser Peel is a laser skin resurfacing treatment. The MicroLaser device delivers intense laser energy to the targeted area and removes a very thin layer of your skin. Once that layer is removed, the body will begin to make new healthy skin cells resulting in younger-looking and feeling skin. The MicroLaser settings can be adjusted to your skin needs making this the perfect treatment for all skin types, tones, and conditions.
What Does Micro Laser Peel Treat?
MicroLaser Peel can treat many skin conditions both caused by sun damage and the body’s natural aging process. Some of the conditions Microlaser peel treats are:
- Mild Wrinkles
- Scarring (including from acne)
- Enlarged pores
- Uneven skin tone
MicroLaser Peel is not just for the face; this treatment can be done on the neck, hands, and chest.
Preparing for Your Micro Laser Peel
You will need to take a few steps a few weeks before your treatment.
- No Sunburn or sun tanning 4 weeks before treatment. As this can cause blistering or permanent discoloration of the skin after treatment.
- No self-tanner 4 weeks before treatment.
- No Retin-A, Renova, or Differin one week before treatment.
Finding the Perfect Treatment Plan for Your Skin
During your initial Micro Laser Peel Consultation, a DayDream healthcare provider will assess your specific skin condition and concerns to implement the perfect treatment plan for you. Because the Micro Laser setting can be adjusted, this is the perfect treatment for all skin types, ages, and skin conditions.
How Many Treatments Are Needed with Micro Laser Peel?
The number of MicroLaser Peel treatments you will need depends on the size and severity of the treated area. Most patients will require 1-3 treatments 6-8 weeks apart. After all, treatments are completed, the results can last 6 months, and results will last longer if you take extra care of your skin. Try to stay out of direct sunlight and wear UV Sunscreen even in the winter months.
MicroLaser Peel is a Quick Outpatient Procedure
MicroLaser Peel treatment is a quick and easy process. Depending on the size and serenity of the area, most treatments take 15 to 30 minutes. There is very little downtime, and most patients return to work after 3-4 days.
What is Recover Like After Micro Laser Peel?
The recovery process after Micro Laser Peel is minimal compared to other laser treatments. For the first few hours after the procedure, you will experience redness and a warming feeling, almost like sunburn. Your healthcare provider will provide you with a post-care topical cream to help with the swelling and any discomfort you may feel. Most patients return to work after 3-4 days. You will begin to see an improvement in your skin’s tone, texture, and color after 3-4 days. It is important to significantly limit your sun exposure for the first 4 weeks after treatment. Application of high SPF sunblock is a necessity.
Skincare After Micro Laser Peel Treatment
Your skin will be very delicate and sensitive as you begin to heal from your Micro Laser Peel treatment. So, it is important to avoid certain skincare regimens and activities for the first few weeks.
- There will be some peeling and flaking of the treated area; you mustn’t pick or scrub your skin.
- Use a gentle cleanser like CeraVe.
- No exercise, saunas, or hot tubes for the first 3 days.
- No products that contain Retinol, Glycolic acid, or Salicylic acid for one week after treatment.
- Avoid sun exposure 4 weeks after treatment.
- Use a UV sunscreen that contains zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, and that is no less than 30.
- Aquaphor or Vaseline should be applied 2-4 times every day for the first 3 days. The treated area must remain soft and pliable during healing, and the skin should not be allowed to dry out.
